The Portsmouth Distillery is a premium artisan spirit producer. Established in 2018, our home is in the fabulous eighteenth century Bastion of Fort Cumberland. Located on the southeastern tip of Portsea Island, surrounded by the sea and centuries of naval history.

Step inside our distillery and discover the story behind our spirits. Our tours take you through the history, how our products are made, and the passion that goes into every bottle.

Enjoy a guided tour of our distillery inside historic Fort Cumberland, where you’ll learn about the site, our passion for spirits, and how we create our range. You’ll also visit the Powder Magazine, the jewel in our crown, for a tasting of our ‘core-range’ spirits*.

Your ticket includes a full-sized drink of your choice*, and you’re welcome to stay and enjoy more in our fully licensed bar. Don’t forget to visit our shop too, stocked with spirits, gift packs, and merchandise.

Please use the gate intercom upon arrival and let the team know you’re here for a distillery tour. There’s plenty of parking at the distillery and we kindly ask you to follow the 10mph speed limit on site.

If you have any accessibility requirements, please contact us ahead of your tour so we can ensure you receive the best experience.

* 'Core-Range' spirits only. Tastings of our 'Premium' spirits (such as barrel aged or navy strength), are not included in this tour package but can be purchased in the bar for an additional fee.

We recently had the pleasure of having a tour around the Portsmouth distillery after it was bought for us for a present! Caroline took us for the tour and was super informative throughout, She made the tour enjoyable through lots of laughter and giving personal touches to why the gin and rum was so good. Had a fantastic afternoon tour was really good, learnt about the history of the fort before the distillery. Tour guide was confident knowledgeable and entertaining. Learning how 2 friends started producing Gin and Rum and how they found the premises. Sampling Gin and Rum was a great way to finish a enjoyable and informative afternoon. Didn't realise the fort was even there and I lived in the Portsmouth area for 12 yrs. Would throughly recommend. Would def come back Thanks Girls

Had a tour of the distillery with a tasting session. Very knowledgeable guide, interesting facts about the fort where the distillery is located. Most importantly very good tasing of both rum and gin. Very friendly staff in the bar great opportunity to try everything before you buy. A very enjoyable afternoon that we will repeat.

Received the tour as a Christmas gift. The gins were good but the rums were fantastic. Tour guide was very good very knowledgeable about the gins and rums. Also very good knowledge of the fort itself. Would definitely recommend. We will definitely try and visit again as they have plenty of events planned over the summer.Absolutely amazing place. Learnt a lot, including some of the "in house secrets" 🙂 The distillery is in very historic, captivating surroundings. Incredible drinks. Lovely friendly staff. Very memorable experience. Basic but clean toilet facilities. Amazingly clean bar area and distillery areas! Will definitely visit again!

How To Book

Please look at the calendar below and select the tour you wish to take, then simply purchase as many tickets as required. There is no minimum number - within reason of course! Please note, you must be over 18 to join a tour.

Tour Gift Vouchers are available on our online store. Vouchers are valid for twelve months. If you have a voucher, please check availability below then call us on 02392733339 to book onto your preferred tour and confirm your place.

We also offer bespoke tours to associations/groups (minimum numbers apply) – to discuss requirements please head over to our contact page to get in touch.

Terms & Conditions

Tour tickets are non-refundable once booked. We are happy to transfer your booking to an alternative available tour date, provided you contact us at least 7 days before your original booking. Unfortunately, we are unable to make changes to bookings within 7 days of the tour, as the places have been reserved for you and we are unlikely to be able to resell them at short notice.
This does not affect your statutory rights.
