We had a fantastic tour, led by Louise, who delivered it in a passionate and energetic way. She is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and engaging, thank you so much! Also, Caroline (behind the bar) is so warm, friendly, and kind - thank you. ☺️

Had a really great Portsmouth Distillery Tour with my family and got to try a wide selection of gins and rums and find out in detail the ins and outs of the distilling process- super interesting! Thanks to Louise for being a fab tour guide and the lovely lady (didn’t catch her name) working behind the bar! Would recommend to those interested in history and drinking 😎

Amazing experience throught our visit. (Distillery tour as a gift) Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Huge amount of knowledge about the history of the site, background about the journey the distillery has had so far and the products they make. Firstly we had a drink, as we arrived early for the tour. Then we had a short talk from one of the owners and founders. Shown the distillery rooms and taken to a tasting room. To sample a number of gins and rums made on site. Then back to the bar for a complimentary drink.
Absolutely amazing place. Learnt a lot, including some of the "in house secrets" 🙂
The distillery is in very historic, captivating surroundings. Incredible drinks. Lovely friendly staff. Very memorable experience. Basic but clean toilet facilities. Amazingly clean bar area and distillery areas!
Will definitely visit again!

We took the opportunity to visit whilst on hollys in Hayling Island. When you arrive you need to use the buźzer to get the gates open as the distillery is on a fort, off limits to the public but maintained by English Heritage. The tour is interesting and informative as you learn about the rum and gins they make. They are the first English Distillery to make from scratch and authentically age a rum for 3 years. You taste the rum and some of the gins obviously and afterwards have a sample of your fave at their bar. And buy some merch as well of course. Disclaimer. The rum is lovely with tonic and ice

A wonderful experience tour of Portsmouth Distillery
An extremely interesting and knowledgeable guide, Giles, who is one of the founders, leads the tour. You will learn how gin and rum are made and, most importantly, have the chance to taste nearly everything they offer. I highly recommend this tour as a great way to support a local Portsmouth business. Our favourites were the 1968 white rum and the Fort gin.

So much better than the huge industrial level tours you can do.
You can't even see the fort from the road and its great that the first 20 mins of the tour is a proper history lesson about the place, so interesting and I could have spent ages walking around there.
The tour itself takes you into where the Gin and Rum is made, an in-depth talk about how they come to the recipes they have. Then into the area where the bottling is done and labelling (all by hand), again more really interesting information about what goes on to get it from tanks to market
The next part was excellent, a chance to try 6 gins and rums, all have their own characteristics and flavours. Not rushed at all and no hard sell to buy in the shop. Finished on the bar for our complimentary drink and you can choose any that you tasted. Popped into the shop for a couple of bottles and after a couple of hours we were finished.
Fort Cumberland itself is a gem, the tour fantastic and I would urge anyone to go and try it

Great tour - took my dad for Father’s Day as gift as loves rum. Clear passion and going into detail on the process for both equipment used and ingredients sourced. Hidden gem is the garden fort rum which blends the botanicals style of gin with rum 🍹!
